You’ve got to test, test and test some more. Think of it as baking; not every batch of cakes comes out perfect the first time. So don’t let your data crumble. Find trouble and fix it now, while the moon’s still young.
Now, making new workflows can be like choosing toppings for a pizza everybody will eat. Everyone’s got an opinion. This step is only easy if everyone who clicks a mouse is willing. You’re adapting something that was built by other people and for other purposes. Some small adjustments and lubrications will get those gears running smoothly.
While you’re at it, look for any missing links. If there’s anything that you can’t seem to find, put on your detective hat and start digging around. Solved these problems in advance so they don’t trip you up later.
Finally, teach folks how to use it and the transitions ain’t Harry Potter stuff. No one wakes up knowing how to use new software, do they? Desk-side talks or short lunch and learns–educating people doesn’t have to be a tedious labor.
